Getting Social
at Stone

A new kind of role in a new kind of field

I was Stone’s first social media hire in 2009. Back then, social media was still new and jobs in social media were unheard of. I was honored to be chosen for such a ground-breaking role. I kicked off Stone’s marketing efforts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Yelp, and The Stone Blog, cementing their place as a marketing leader in the craft beer industry.

The Stone Blog

I was the sole contributor to The Stone Blog, writing up to three posts per week reporting on the interesting goings on at Stone Brewing headquarters in Escondido, CA. As an English major and writer, this really allowed me to flex my literary muscle. The blog covered everything from one-off collaboration brews, special events, gardening tips, dinner pairings, trips to local farms, and much more. Much of my content is no longer online, but one of my favorite posts is—a short, sweet feature about our Estate Hops.

Taking PR Digital

I wore many hats at Stone, including PR. I wrote digital press releases, triaged media requests, hosted media tours, and interfaced with print and online media to increase our coverage by 30%.
